Aided Audiogram

Determining Hearing Aids, Cochlear Implants and other Implantable hearing devices performance in sound field is called Aided Audiometry or Aided Audiogram. This procedure assesses the softest sound a device wearer may hear for distinct frequency signals and provides information about auditory performance and amplification. Along with representing your levels of hearing loss an audiogram can also show where your hearing lies when wearing your hearing technology. The levels of hearing that you achieve when wearing hearing aids, cochlear implants or bone conducting hearing implants are called ‘aided thresholds’. They are also sometimes referred to as ‘functional gain’. This simply means when wearing your hearing aids what are the softest sounds that you are able to hear.

This test is done via loudspeaker and uses different type of auditory stimulus such as narrow/white band nose, warble tones and speech stimulus (Live or Recorded).the test is done in closed sound proof or sound treated room via loudspeaker placed at45 degrees and 1 meter distance. This test is useful in selection of hearing aid, benefit from hearing aid monaurally and binaurally, candidacy for cochlear implants and other implantable devices, benefit from cohlear implant or other implantable devices, need of programming or reprogramming, need for assistive listening devices, need for repair or change of receiver power in hearing aids.
